Weekly Schedule
Something new each Saturday.
Life, the universe and my circumstances permitting.
I'm focusing on 'family stories' at the moment. ("A Change of Pace: Family Stories" (11/23/2024))- Category: Family Stories
But if something else caught and held my interest during the week, that's what I'll share.

Police, I-35W Bridge Collapse and All That
I’ll be talking about police, law enforcement and authority. But this is not a ‘political’ piece. I won’t be demonizing or deifying anyone, or demanding that Congress abolish the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB). Back in 2007, when part of … Continue reading
Beyond George Floyd
A police officer killed George Floyd on May 25, 2020. Many folks, including me, think that was wrong. Some have been getting together to protest George Floyd’s death. The protests started in Minneapolis and are now international. I haven’t joined … Continue reading
Fukushima Cleanup: Slow Progress
A tsunami flooded the Fukushima-Daiichi nuclear power plant eight years ago. Fires, explosions and meltdowns followed. Folks living within 20 kilometers were told to leave the area. Radiation levels are dropping. A few folks are moving back. Clearing debris and … Continue reading
Rules, Principles, and a Defrocked Cardinal
I’m not sure how the ‘defrocked Cardinal’ story will play out in America’s news. Assorted presidential campaigns will be building up steam, and there’s no shortage of other newsworthy angst. Maybe the McCarrick case will be a nine day wonder, … Continue reading
Law, Immigrants and Romans 13
America’s Attorney General apparently said Americans should do what the government tells us to. That’s ‘dog bites man’ news. It’s what government officials do. ‘Man bites dog’ news would be an official telling us to go out and break laws. … Continue reading
