Weekly Schedule
Something new each Saturday.
Life, the universe and my circumstances permitting.
I'm focusing on 'family stories' at the moment. ("A Change of Pace: Family Stories" (11/23/2024))- Category: Family Stories
But if something else caught and held my interest during the week, that's what I'll share.

Bah! Humbug?
‘Tis the season to kvetch about Christmas: because it’s too commercial, too religious, or whatever. I won’t do that. I’ll look at why we celebrate instead. Also Scrooge and “A Charlie Brown Christmas.” Besides, I think enjoying the holiday and … Continue reading
Prepare the Way
Denouncing sin and sinful influences was a favorite activity in my youth, at least for many radio preachers and the more outraged Christian folks. I think they were sincere. Their antics started me thinking, which eventually led me to become … Continue reading
Seeing the Big Picture
Today’s Mass is something new, introduced by Pius XI in 1925. We’ve had it on the last Sunday in Ordinary Time since 1970. Focusing on who and what our Lord is seems like a good way to wrap up the … Continue reading
California Murders, and Remembering
I hadn’t planned on writing about murder and getting a grip this week. Or next. But another multiple murder is international news. “California shooting: Schoolteachers ‘saved’ children from gunman” BBC News (November 15, 2017) “A gunman who killed four people … Continue reading
