{"id":1029,"date":"2017-04-16T01:20:39","date_gmt":"2017-04-16T01:20:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/brendans-island.com\/catholic-citizen\/?p=1029"},"modified":"2021-01-07T18:38:02","modified_gmt":"2021-01-07T18:38:02","slug":"the-eighth-day-two-millennia-and-counting","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/brendans-island.com\/catholic-citizen\/the-eighth-day-two-millennia-and-counting\/","title":{"rendered":"The Eighth Day: Two Millennia and Counting"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/brendans-island.com\/catholic-citizen\/natural-law-our-rules\/#lex\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/brendans-island.com\/blogsource\/20130220ff\/20150613-650137main_pia15416b-43_full-329.jpg?w=640&#038;ssl=1\" align=\"right\" \/><\/a>Easter is when we celebrate &#8220;the crowning truth of our faith in Christ.&#8221; (Catechism of the Catholic Church, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.vatican.va\/archive\/ccc_css\/archive\/catechism\/p122a5p2.htm#638\">638<\/a>)<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s among the top major events so far. Depending on how you count them, there have been only three to six: the creation of this universe; humanity&#8217;s creation and fall; and our Lord&#8217;s arrival, execution, and resurrection.<\/p>\n<p>There&#8217;s another big one coming, eventually: the Last Judgment.<sup><a href=\"https:\/\/brendans-island.com\/catholic-citizen\/the-eighth-day-two-millennia-and-counting\/#1\">1<\/a><\/sup> I take <a href=\"http:\/\/www.vatican.va\/archive\/ENG0839\/_PVX.HTM#GOSP.MAT.24.36\">Matthew 24:36<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.vatican.va\/archive\/ENG0839\/_PVX.HTM#GOSP.MAT.24.44\">44<\/a>; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.vatican.va\/archive\/ENG0839\/_PVY.HTM#GOSP.MAT.25.13\">Matthew 25:13<\/a>; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.vatican.va\/archive\/ENG0839\/_PWF.HTM#GOSP.MAR.13.32\">Mark 13:32<\/a>&#8211;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.vatican.va\/archive\/ENG0839\/_PWF.HTM#GOSP.MAR.13.33\">33<\/a> quite seriously, so I don&#8217;t try second-guessing God the Father. (<a href=\"https:\/\/brendans-island.com\/catholic-citizen\/jesus-and-expectations\/#being\">December 11, 2016<\/a>; <a href=\"https:\/\/brendans-island.com\/catholic-citizen\/last-judgment-still-pending\/\">August 7, 2016<\/a>)<\/p>\n<p>The idea that the Son of God was human <strong>and<\/strong> divine has seemed insufficiently &#8216;spiritual&#8217; to some folks for two millennia now. But like <a href=\"http:\/\/www.vatican.va\/archive\/ENG0839\/_PX9.HTM#GOSP.JOH.1.14\">John 1:14<\/a> says,<sup><a href=\"https:\/\/brendans-island.com\/catholic-citizen\/the-eighth-day-two-millennia-and-counting\/#2\">2<\/a><\/sup> &#8220;&#8230;the Word became flesh&#8230;.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The crucifixion, and what happened later, wouldn&#8217;t mean much otherwise. (Catechism, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.vatican.va\/archive\/ccc_css\/archive\/catechism\/p122a3p1.htm#457\">457<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.vatican.va\/archive\/ccc_css\/archive\/catechism\/p122a3p1.htm#461\">461<\/a>&#8211;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.vatican.va\/archive\/ccc_css\/archive\/catechism\/p122a3p1.htm#463\">463<\/a>)<\/p>\n<h4><a name=\"cosmic\"><\/a>Cosmic Scale<\/h4>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/brendans-island.com\/catholic-citizen\/faith-the-universe-and-wisdom\/#ancient\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/brendans-island.com\/blogsource\/20130220ff\/PIA17569-GodThinksBig-329.jpg?w=640&#038;ssl=1\" align=\"right\" \/><\/a>We&#8217;ve known that God&#8217;s creation was big and old, and been impressed, for a long time. Over the last few centuries, we&#8217;ve learned that it&#8217;s immensely bigger and older than we thought.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;The heavens declare the glory of God; the sky proclaims its builder&#8217;s craft.&#8221;<br \/>\n(<a href=\"http:\/\/www.vatican.va\/archive\/ENG0839\/_PGB.HTM#WISDB.PSA.19.2\">Psalms 19:2<\/a>)<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;<sup><a href=\"http:\/\/www.vatican.va\/archive\/ENG0839\/_PHW.HTM#$1I8\">3<\/a><\/sup> Terrible and awesome are you, stronger than the ancient mountains.&#8221;<br \/>\n(<a href=\"http:\/\/www.vatican.va\/archive\/ENG0839\/_PHW.HTM#WISDB.PSA.76.5\">Psalms 76:5<\/a>)<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;<sup><a href=\"http:\/\/www.vatican.va\/archive\/ENG0839\/_POY.HTM#$2A2\">3<\/a><\/sup> Raise your eyes to the heavens, and look at the earth below; Though the heavens grow thin like smoke, the earth wears out like a garment and its inhabitants die like flies, My salvation shall remain forever and my justice shall never be dismayed.&#8221;<br \/>\n(<a href=\"http:\/\/www.vatican.va\/archive\/ENG0839\/_POY.HTM#PROPHB.ISA.51.6\">Isaiah 51:6<\/a>)<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;<sup>4<\/sup> Indeed, before you the whole universe is as a grain from a balance, or a drop of morning dew come down upon the earth.&#8221;<br \/>\n(<a href=\"http:\/\/www.vatican.va\/archive\/ENG0839\/_PLS.HTM#WISDB.WISD.11.22\">Wisdom 11:22<\/a>&#8211;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.vatican.va\/archive\/ENG0839\/_PLS.HTM#WISDB.WISD.11.25\">25<\/a>)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Turns out that the &#8220;ancient mountains&#8221; aren&#8217;t all that old. Not on a cosmic scale.<\/p>\n<p>I don&#8217;t see a problem with that.<\/p>\n<p>Even if I did; I hope I&#8217;d have the sense to figure that God&#8217;s God, I&#8217;m not, and that my job doesn&#8217;t include telling God how the universe should work.<\/p>\n<p>I believe that God is infinite and eternal, almighty and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.oxforddictionaries.com\/us\/definition\/american_english\/ineffable\">ineffable<\/a>: beyond our power to describe or understand. (Catechism, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.vatican.va\/archive\/ccc_css\/archive\/catechism\/p1s2c1p1.htm#202\">202<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.vatican.va\/archive\/ccc_css\/archive\/catechism\/p1s2c1p1.htm#230\">230<\/a>)<\/p>\n<p>Understanding how this universe works may be another matter, and that&#8217;s another topic. (<a href=\"https:\/\/brendans-island.com\/catholic-citizen\/tides-and-our-moons-origin\/#understanding\">December 9, 2016<\/a>)<\/p>\n<p>As I see it, what we&#8217;re learning about the cosmic scale of this creation is cause for greater admiration of God&#8217;s work, and that&#8217;s yet another topic. (<a href=\"https:\/\/brendans-island.com\/catholic-citizen\/right-handedness-and-evolving-jaws\/#numbers\">October 28, 2016<\/a>; <a href=\"https:\/\/brendans-island.com\/catholic-citizen\/the-minden-monster-what-killed-lucy\/#even\">September 23, 2016<\/a>; <a href=\"https:\/\/brendans-island.com\/catholic-citizen\/sandra-and-tommy-apes-and-ethics\/#greater\">July 15, 2016<\/a>)<\/p>\n<h4><a name=\"wounded\"><\/a>Wounded, but Basically Good<\/h4>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/brendans-island.com\/catholic-citizen\/living-with-consequences\/#still\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/brendans-island.com\/blogsource\/20160719ff\/20150430-rosetta20091113-browse-329.jpg?w=640&#038;ssl=1\" align=\"right\" \/><\/a>I&#8217;ve said this before: God doesn&#8217;t make junk. The universe is basically good. So are we \u2014 basically. (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.vatican.va\/archive\/ENG0839\/_P3.HTM#PENT.GEN.1.26\">Genesis 1:26<\/a>&#8211;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.vatican.va\/archive\/ENG0839\/_P3.HTM#PENT.GEN.1.27\">27<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.vatican.va\/archive\/ENG0839\/_P3.HTM#PENT.GEN.1.31\">31<\/a>; Catechism, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.vatican.va\/archive\/ccc_css\/archive\/catechism\/p1s1c1.htm#31\">31<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.vatican.va\/archive\/ccc_css\/archive\/catechism\/p1s2c1p4.htm#299\">299<\/a>)<\/p>\n<p>The first of us \u2014 Adam and Eve <a href=\"https:\/\/brendans-island.com\/catholic-citizen\/the-minden-monster-what-killed-lucy\/#adam\">aren&#8217;t German<\/a> \u2014 listened to Satan, ignoring what God had said.<\/p>\n<p>Then Adam tried blaming his wife, and God; which did not end well. (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.vatican.va\/archive\/ENG0839\/_P5.HTM#PENT.GEN.3.5\">Genesis 3:5<\/a>&#8211;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.vatican.va\/archive\/ENG0839\/_P5.HTM#PENT.GEN.3.13\">13<\/a>)<\/p>\n<p>That happened a very, very long time ago. We&#8217;ve been living with the disastrous consequences of their decision ever since. (Catechism, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.vatican.va\/archive\/ccc_css\/archive\/catechism\/p1s2c1p7.htm#396\">396<\/a>&#8211;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.vatican.va\/archive\/ccc_css\/archive\/catechism\/p1s2c1p7.htm#412\">412<\/a>)<\/p>\n<p>But humanity is still made &#8220;in the divine image.&#8221; (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.vatican.va\/archive\/ENG0839\/_P3.HTM#PENT.GEN.1.27\">Genesis 1:27<\/a>)<\/p>\n<p>Loving ourselves, others, and God is a struggle because the harmony we had with ourselves and with the universe is broken. Our nature is wounded: but <strong>not<\/strong> corrupted. (Catechism, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.vatican.va\/archive\/ccc_css\/archive\/catechism\/p1s2c1p6.htm#355\">355<\/a>&#8211;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.vatican.va\/archive\/ccc_css\/archive\/catechism\/p1s2c1p6.htm#361\">361<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.vatican.va\/archive\/ccc_css\/archive\/catechism\/p1s2c1p6.htm#374\">374<\/a>&#8211;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.vatican.va\/archive\/ccc_css\/archive\/catechism\/p1s2c1p6.htm#379\">379<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.vatican.va\/archive\/ccc_css\/archive\/catechism\/p1s2c1p7.htm#398\">398<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.vatican.va\/archive\/ccc_css\/archive\/catechism\/p1s2c1p7.htm#400\">400<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.vatican.va\/archive\/ccc_css\/archive\/catechism\/p1s2c1p7.htm#405\">405<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.vatican.va\/archive\/ccc_css\/archive\/catechism\/p3s1c1a1.htm#1701\">1701<\/a>&#8211;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.vatican.va\/archive\/ccc_css\/archive\/catechism\/p3s1c1a1.htm#1707\">1707<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.vatican.va\/archive\/ccc_css\/archive\/catechism\/p3s1c3.htm#1949\">1949<\/a>)<\/p>\n<h4><a name=\"true\"><\/a>True God and True Man<\/h4>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/brendans-island.com\/catholic-citizen\/good-news-of-great-joy\/#do\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/brendans-island.com\/blogsource\/20160719ff\/20161223-547px-The_Shepherds_and_the_Angel-329.jpg?w=640&#038;ssl=1\" align=\"right\" \/><\/a>About two thousand years ago, our Lord arrived:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;For God so loved the world that he gave <sup><a href=\"http:\/\/www.vatican.va\/archive\/ENG0839\/_PXB.HTM#$3RL\">7<\/a><\/sup> his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him might not perish but might have eternal life.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn <sup><a href=\"http:\/\/www.vatican.va\/archive\/ENG0839\/_PXB.HTM#$3RM\">8<\/a><\/sup> the world, but that the world might be saved through him.&#8221;<br \/>\n(<a href=\"http:\/\/www.vatican.va\/archive\/ENG0839\/_PXB.HTM#GOSP.JOH.3.16\">John 3:16<\/a>&#8211;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.vatican.va\/archive\/ENG0839\/_PXB.HTM#GOSP.JOH.3.17\">17<\/a>)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Jesus was born in Bethlehem. Reactions at the time were mixed.<\/p>\n<p>Shepherds and Magi thought it was good news, Herod didn&#8217;t, and that&#8217;s yet again another topic. (<a href=\"https:\/\/brendans-island.com\/catholic-citizen\/life-death-and-choices\/#rachel\">January 15, 2017<\/a>)<\/p>\n<p>Like I said earlier, the Word had become Flesh, true God and true man. (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.vatican.va\/archive\/ENG0839\/_PX9.HTM#GOSP.JOH.1.14\">John 1:14<\/a>; Catechism, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.vatican.va\/archive\/ccc_css\/archive\/catechism\/p122a3p1.htm#456\">456<\/a>&#8211;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.vatican.va\/archive\/ccc_css\/archive\/catechism\/p122a3p1.htm#478\">478<\/a>)<\/p>\n<h4><a name=\"anguish\"><\/a>Anguish, Betrayal, Blood, and Death<\/h4>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/brendans-island.com\/catholic-citizen\/trinity\/\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/brendans-island.com\/blogsource\/20130220ff\/Dali_Crucifixion_hypercube-329.jpg?w=640&#038;ssl=1\" align=\"right\" \/><\/a>We reviewed Mathew&#8217;s account of our Lord&#8217;s final Passover meal last week; and kept reading until <a href=\"http:\/\/www.vatican.va\/archive\/ENG0839\/_PW0.HTM#GOSP.MAT.27.66\">Matthew 27:66<\/a>, where guards sealed Christ&#8217;s tomb.<\/p>\n<p>Friday&#8217;s Gospel, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.vatican.va\/archive\/ENG0839\/_PXQ.HTM#GOSP.JOH.18.1\">John 18:1<\/a>&#8211;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.vatican.va\/archive\/ENG0839\/_PXR.HTM#GOSP.JOH.19.42\">19:42<\/a>, was similarly uncheerful:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;<sup><a href=\"http:\/\/www.vatican.va\/archive\/ENG0839\/_PXQ.HTM#$3XQ\">1<\/a><\/sup> <sup><a href=\"http:\/\/www.vatican.va\/archive\/ENG0839\/_PXQ.HTM#$3XR\">2<\/a><\/sup> When he had said this, Jesus went out with his disciples across the Kidron valley to where there was a garden, into which he and his disciples entered.&#8221;<br \/>\n&#8230;<br \/>\n&#8220;So they laid Jesus there because of the Jewish preparation day; for the tomb was close by.&#8221;<br \/>\n(<a href=\"http:\/\/www.vatican.va\/archive\/ENG0839\/_PXQ.HTM#GOSP.JOH.18.1\">John 18:1<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.vatican.va\/archive\/ENG0839\/_PXR.HTM#GOSP.JOH.19.42\">19:42<\/a>)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>All four Gospels agree on what happened next, although the accounts don&#8217;t quite match up: by American standards.<sup><a href=\"https:\/\/brendans-island.com\/catholic-citizen\/the-eighth-day-two-millennia-and-counting\/#3\">3<\/a><\/sup><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;<sup><a href=\"http:\/\/www.vatican.va\/archive\/ENG0839\/_PXS.HTM#$3YP\">1<\/a><\/sup> <sup><a href=\"http:\/\/www.vatican.va\/archive\/ENG0839\/_PXS.HTM#$3YQ\">2<\/a><\/sup> <sup><a href=\"http:\/\/www.vatican.va\/archive\/ENG0839\/_PXS.HTM#$3YR\">3<\/a><\/sup> On the first day of the week, Mary of Magdala came to the tomb early in the morning, while it was still dark, and saw the stone removed from the tomb.&#8221;<br \/>\n(<a href=\"http:\/\/www.vatican.va\/archive\/ENG0839\/_PXS.HTM#GOSP.JOH.20.1\">John 20:1<\/a>)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Our Lord had stopped being dead. (<a href=\"https:\/\/brendans-island.com\/catholic-citizen\/good-news-of-great-joy\/#best\">December 25, 2016<\/a>; <a href=\"https:\/\/brendans-island.com\/catholic-citizen\/advent-and-being-prepared\/#meetings\">November 27, 2016<\/a>)<\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s where it gets interesting.<\/p>\n<h4><a name=\"eighth\"><\/a>The Eighth Day: Life, Death &#8211; &#8211; &#8211;<\/h4>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/brendans-island.com\/catholic-citizen\/life-death-and-choices\/#light\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/brendans-island.com\/blogsource\/20130220ff\/20150328-Piero_della_Francesca_-_Resurrection_-_WGA17609-658.jpg?w=640&#038;ssl=1\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Two millennia later, we&#8217;re still celebrating.<\/p>\n<p>Pope St. John Paul II called the Resurrection of Jesus &#8220;the fundamental event upon which Christian faith rests &#8230; the fulcrum of history.&#8221;<sup><a href=\"https:\/\/brendans-island.com\/catholic-citizen\/the-eighth-day-two-millennia-and-counting\/#4\">4<\/a><\/sup><\/p>\n<p>Death, physical death, happens: but it is not the end. (Catechism, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.vatican.va\/archive\/ccc_css\/archive\/catechism\/p123a11.htm#1007\">1007<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.vatican.va\/archive\/ccc_css\/archive\/catechism\/p123a11.htm#1010\">1010<\/a>&#8211;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.vatican.va\/archive\/ccc_css\/archive\/catechism\/p123a11.htm#1014\">1014<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.vatican.va\/archive\/ccc_css\/archive\/catechism\/p123a12.htm#1022\">1022<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.vatican.va\/archive\/ccc_css\/archive\/catechism\/p2s2c4a2.htm#1682\">1682<\/a>)<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;<sup><a href=\"http:\/\/www.vatican.va\/archive\/ENG0839\/_PZK.HTM#$4DA\">7<\/a><\/sup> <sup><a href=\"http:\/\/www.vatican.va\/archive\/ENG0839\/_PZK.HTM#$4DB\">8<\/a><\/sup> But now Christ has been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;<sup><a href=\"http:\/\/www.vatican.va\/archive\/ENG0839\/_PZK.HTM#$4DC\">9<\/a><\/sup> For since death came through a human being, the resurrection of the dead came also through a human being.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;For just as in Adam all die, so too in Christ shall all be brought to life,&#8221;<br \/>\n(<a href=\"http:\/\/www.vatican.va\/archive\/ENG0839\/_PZK.HTM#NTLET.1COR.15.20\">1 Corinthians 15:20<\/a>&#8211;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.vatican.va\/archive\/ENG0839\/_PZK.HTM#NTLET.1COR.15.22\">22<\/a>)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>What happens next depends on whether or not we decide to accept or reject God&#8217;s grace. What we&#8217;ve done with our life matters, too. (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.vatican.va\/archive\/ENG0839\/_PXM.HTM#GOSP.JOH.14.15\">John 14:15<\/a>; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.vatican.va\/archive\/ENG0839\/_P116.HTM#NTLET.2TIM.1.9\">2 Timothy 1:9<\/a>&#8211;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.vatican.va\/archive\/ENG0839\/_P116.HTM#NTLET.2TIM.1.10\">10<\/a>; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.vatican.va\/archive\/ENG0839\/_P11W.HTM#CATHL.JAM.2.14\">James 2:14<\/a>&#8211;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.vatican.va\/archive\/ENG0839\/_P11W.HTM#CATHL.JAM.2.19\">19<\/a>; Catechism, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.vatican.va\/archive\/ccc_css\/archive\/catechism\/p123a12.htm#1021\">1021<\/a>&#8211;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.vatican.va\/archive\/ccc_css\/archive\/catechism\/p123a12.htm#1022\">1022<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.vatican.va\/archive\/ccc_css\/archive\/catechism\/p3s1c3a2.htm#1987\">1987<\/a>&#8211;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.vatican.va\/archive\/ccc_css\/archive\/catechism\/p3s1c3a2.htm#2016\">2016<\/a>)<\/p>\n<p>What our Lord expects is simple, but not easy.<\/p>\n<p>I should love God, love my neighbor, see everyone as my neighbor, treat others as I want to be treated. It is a day of life and hope. (Catechism, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.vatican.va\/archive\/ccc_css\/archive\/catechism\/p1s2c1p5.htm#349\">349<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.vatican.va\/archive\/ccc_css\/archive\/catechism\/p2s1c2a1.htm#1166\">1166<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.vatican.va\/archive\/ccc_css\/archive\/catechism\/p3s2c1a3.htm#2174\">2174<\/a>)<\/p>\n<p>There&#8217;s more to being a Christian than celebrating and waiting for our Lord&#8217;s return. I&#8217;m expected to live as if loving my neighbors and loving God matter.<\/p>\n<p>Truly respecting the &#8220;transcendent dignity&#8221; of humanity, and each person, isn&#8217;t easy: but it&#8217;s something I must do. (Catechism, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.vatican.va\/archive\/ccc_css\/archive\/catechism\/p3s1c2a3.htm#1929\">1929<\/a>)<\/p>\n<p>Part of our job is also building a better world for future generations. It starts within each of us, in me, with an ongoing &#8220;inner conversion.&#8221; (Catechism, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.vatican.va\/archive\/ccc_css\/archive\/catechism\/p3s1c2a1.htm#1888\">1888<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.vatican.va\/archive\/ccc_css\/archive\/catechism\/p3s1c2a3.htm#1928\">1928<\/a>&#8211;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.vatican.va\/archive\/ccc_css\/archive\/catechism\/p3s1c2a3.htm#1942\">1942<\/a>)<\/p>\n<p>We&#8217;ve made some progress: and have a very great deal left to do.<\/p>\n<p>Like I keep saying, my guess is that we&#8217;ll still be waiting and working when the <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/8.2_kiloyear_event\">8.2 kiloyear event<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Year_2000_problem\">Y2K<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Year_10,000_problem\">Y10K<\/a> are seen as roughly contemporary.
