Gill. I live in Sauk Centre, Minnesota. A Catholic Citizen in America is my blog. My blog&#8217;s website address is <a href=\"https:\/\/brendans-island.com\/catholic-citizen\">brendans-island.com\/catholic-citizen<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><a name=\"personal\"><\/a>Personal Data<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>It&#8217;s complicated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you leave a comment on this blog, its software collects data shown in the comments form, and also your IP address and browser user agent string. This is done to help with spam detection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I&#8217;m told that this is how it works \u2014<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><a name=\"commentsandyour\"><\/a>Comments and your email address<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>An anonymized string created from your email address, it&#8217;s also called a hash, may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Automattic Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: <a href=\"https:\/\/automattic.com\/privacy\/\">automattic.com\/privacy\/<\/a>. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you have commented on a post before, and I approved it (which I will, unless it&#8217;s spam), the next time you make a comment using the same name and email, this blog&#8217;s software will (should) recognize you and approve your comment immediately.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><a name=\"subscriptionandyour\"><\/a>Subscription and your email address<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>If you subscribe to A Catholic Citizen in America&#8217;s posts or comments, you will receive notifications of new posts or comments by email.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The &#8220;Notify me of new comments via email&#8221; and &#8220;Notify me of new posts via email&#8221; checkboxes are on the Comment form:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/brendans-island.com\/blogsource\/20220318ff\/20220708-CommentFormDisplay-658.jpg?w=640&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"Image of A Catholic Citizen in America's comment form, showing 'Notify me of new comments via email' and 'Notify me of new comments via email' checkboxes.\"><br>(Note: This is an <strong>image<\/strong> of the comment form, not the real thing.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you subscribe, this blog&#8217;s software will ask for your email address, and retain it. Embedded content from other websites behaves the same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><a name=\"analytics\"><\/a>Analytics<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>This blog uses Automattic&#8217;s Akismet Anti-Spam and Jetpack by WordPress.com. Jetpack discusses cookies, and how Jetpack uses cookies, here: <a href=\"https:\/\/jetpack.com\/support\/cookies\/\">jetpack.com\/support\/cookies\/<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Advertisements in the sidebar are handled by Igor Funa&#8217;s Ad Inserter: <a href=\"https:\/\/igorfuna.com\/software\/web\/ad-inserter-wordpress-plugin\">igorfuna.com\/software\/web\/ad-inserter-wordpress-plugin<\/a>. Ad Inserter collects technical data about Ad Inserter&#8217;s functions in this blog, which I don&#8217;t see.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I also use WebStat analytics: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.web-stat.com\/\">web-stat.com<\/a>. I collect no personal data from WebStat&#8217;s analytics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><a name=\"who\"><\/a>Who I Share Your Data With<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>I don&#8217;t.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This blog&#8217;s analytics software collects data. So do some media and advertisements on this blog. Advertisers may share data they collect.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><a name=\"how\"><\/a>How Long this Blog Retains Your Data<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>If you leave a (non-spam) comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This lets the blog&#8217;s software recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><a name=\"where\"><\/a>Where I send Your Data<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Visitor comments are checked through the Akismet anti-spam service. They&#8217;ll know&#8221;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I&#8217;ve spent more than a third of a century in a small town. That may have influenced my attitude toward &#8220;privacy&#8221;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On the other hand, I&#8217;ve lived in cities \u2014 and didn&#8217;t find myself craving even more anonymity than metropolitan areas provide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><a name=\"right\"><\/a>A Right to be Forgotten?<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>I get the impression that &#8220;privacy&#8221; of one sort or another is highly prized these days:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Wikipedia\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/General_Data_Protection_Regulation\">General Data Protection Regulation<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Internet_privacy\">Internet privacy<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Privacy\">Privacy<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Privacy_policy\">Privacy Policy<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Right_to_be_forgotten\">Right to be forgotten<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Wikipedia:Wikimedia_policy\">Wikipedia:Wikimedia policy<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>There.
